Bridgwater Half Marathon 2018, another year 'ran' smoothly!

Bridgwater Half Marathon, 10 kilometre race and 5 kilometre fun run was once again held on 2 September 2018 at Morganians Rugby Football Club.

The event main sponsor continues to be Kellands Plant Sales, thank you so much to the Kellands team for their financial assistance as well as providing their trade show unit to accommodate our commentary and prize giving.

2018 saw over 800 entrants across the races descend upon Bridgwater from all over the country. The feedback from runners was universally positive with many hailing praise on the team for a superbly organised race.

The day involves an army of volunteers with over 40 marshals required for the route, three teams of water station operatives and a large team of administration volunteers checking in all the participants and handing out finisher medals and goodies. There is also the hot food stand to man and the bag store with the Cancer Research UK tombola and fundraising stall another area requiring support. We were delighted to be joined by some qualified masseuses to perform pre and post race massage. We are indebted to all of our volunteers together with anyone who supported in any way, whether it be sponsoring a participant or coming out from their house to cheer on the runners.

The team works extraordinarily hard to stage the event by setting the 13.1 miles of course out with signage and setting up the event site with infrastructure.

The event raised over £4,000 for Cancer Research UK with over £1,000 being raised in sponsorship and £3,000 being raised from event day profits. This is a staggering achievement for the team and we are delighted with the results.
