Bridgwater Friends Honored With Flame of Hope Award
In June 2017, we were absolutely thrilled to learn that the Bridgwater Friends had been named joint winners in the Fundraising in the Community category for the 2017 Flame of Hope awards! The Flame of Hope awards are very competitive and so to be named as a Flame of Hope award winner is a fantastic achievement. The award was given to us for our continued support of the charity. There was a presentation lunch in London which was attended by Gavin Roberts (Chairman), Vanessa Brooks-Oke (Vice Chair) and Clive Woodrow (H&S), where they were presented with the Flame of Hope award and a certificate. Carol Fishlock (Secretary) and Keith Fishlock (Treasurer) also managed to get an invite to the pre-lunch drinks, where it was an absolute honour to be specifically introduced to Sir Harpal Kumar - then the CEO of Cancer Research UK – who had even heard of our famous duck races!

This is the second time we have won this award, so an even greater honour. None of us volunteer for any great glory, but to be recognized for the hard work and sheer determination we have put in over the years was appreciated by us all.
This would not be possible without all of our local supporters and volunteers, thank you to you for supporting us.
